“The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance”

Aristotle

Hi There!

My name is Abigail Kohls and it’s so nice to meet you! I am currently a BFA student studying Marketing Communications and Graphic Design. I have always felt connected and fell in love with art - In love with lines, patterns, and limitless creativity. The world around us is filled with beauty and inspiration. Lines and patterns from nature, artworks, & people are what inspire me. Aside from being passionate about worldly patterns, I also use my time to travel, write, and advocate for the planet! I want to be able to use my artistic abilities to nourish the earth with euphoric energy. I truly believe we are beings of energy and if we emit positive energy to one another it reciprocates beautiful moments and ideas.

This represents the touch of nature and the very existence of every human soul that causes us to grow. Whether it’s a growth of love, kindness, pain, or suffering, we become a garden. A garden of all the people & places that we encountered. A garden of the world. From a stranger’s smile to the comfort of a loved one, we bloom. We are growing and are a garden’s masterpiece.

Abigail Kohls’ interpretation of the natural world and human emotion is explored through pen drawings, photography, and digital graphics. Her intricate work buries hidden details of mental health, environmental issues, and human purpose.

She creates prints and original drawings using black archival ink on mixed media paper. Focusing on a monochromatic palette, the passionate artist is slowly veering towards watercolor to enhance parts of her work. Although most of her work is done through smaller canvases, her usage of space perpetuates dimension and depth.
