ARTIST STATEMENT
I strive to create mixed-media artworks that include but are not limited to, photography, sculpture, collage, ink, and watercolor, to discuss themes that center around my struggles with mental health and explore my interest in spirituality. I also create pieces that incorporate connections to the natural world and explore how the body and nature are intertwined through anthropomorphic figures. Additionally, I am constantly inspired by the Dadaism and Surrealism art movements and am especially influenced by the ready-made artist, Marcel Duchamp and Surrealist artist, René Magritte. The themes of the movements arise in many of my works, as I have a deep appreciation for them. My goal is to create artworks that make the viewers question their thoughts and feelings towards the natural world but still have my works be closely personal in nature. Overall, I hope that the viewers walk away from my art with more questions about how the body and the environment co-mingle than they had before, while also allowing them to grapple with their own psyche and spiritual beliefs while digesting my works.
