CHLOE LEE CERAMICS
Hi! My name is Chloe Germain and I’m a BFA student at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls with an emphasis in ceramics. Born and raised in the St. Croix Valley, my work is inspired by the legacy of Mingei-Sota potters in this region along with Japanese and British studio pottery. While ceramics is my primary medium, I also enjoy drawing, painting, and photography.
In this recent body of work, I’ve been exploring the relationship between form and surface decoration in functional pottery. Through trying new techniques such as faceting, fluting, and adding designs with slips, I am learning to create a harmonious relationship between the two. When creating the color palette for my work I find inspiration in natural landscapes. By pairing earthy colors with simple, clean forms I look to create a sense of calm within these pots and the spaces they occupy.
