Meet Your Maker.

Hi! That’s me. :-)

My name is Shelby and I’m a queer and genderqueer individual. Most of all I am a maker. I come from the woods of River Falls Wisconsin and originally started in crafts which is why I define myself as either an artist or a maker. I am an artist with emphasis in illustration and printmaking, however I dabble in painting and other mediums such as clay work as well. I love switching between mediums and falling in love with new methods. Much of my work is inspired by mental turmoil, the push and pulls of emotional waves washing over as is flows through.

Throughout most of my life I was unable to express my emotions outwardly, the only way I was able to connect was through my art, art was so heartbreakingly beautiful it was so incredibly loud it drowned everything else out. I grow everyday and open up more using my art practice as a therapeutic experience and I can only hope it can reach you too.

What Is my work?

Art is an out-of-body experience, and frankly, I’ve never felt quite at home inside mine. Moving from one medium to another, the imagery is never fixed yet the narrative remains. I change with the work fluidly and cannot make a commitment to one piece of myself.

My current body of work encompasses the ideology that our dwellings are a manifestation of our bodies through a series of homes depicted by yours truly.
