Hi There!

I am multi-media artist who is pursuing a career in graphic design at UW-River Falls. Most of my time is spent doing commissioned graphic work for different organizations on campus. Recently, I was in charge of the recruitment campaign for the office of Student Involvement. While my internships take away most of my free time, I still make an effort to visit the ceramic studio every day, as it is my home. It is the feelings of “rightness” that I chase when creating utilitarian objects. This feeling of “rightness” comes from my intuition of where things should be placed, the space they should fill and the role of color on any given shape until the artwork feels whole. Continuing themes in my works are natural, organic forms and motifs of landscapes and animals.

Recent explorations into white earthenware were made to create more contrast in the colors of the pieces I create. This experimentation in high contrast is closely related to an interest in Yin and Yang. The idea of another half making whole. As a result of treating each piece as an object to be balanced, I rarely use the same design or technique twice. Each piece is a different person missing a different piece of themselves. To fill these voids, I tend to use pieces of myself. These pieces contain traces of my struggles, anxieties, and interests of that time.

Graphic Design

Graphic Design has been a part of my life since before I knew what I was doing. I loved taking photos and adding quotes on top and making designs for my presentations. It is because of this long relationship that when I create things, I do so based on intuition. I always love taking on new projects whether serious or just for my own amusement.

 Ceramics

Ceramics is not my main area of study but I have found a home within this world. A place that I will never leave.

Photography

I have taken photographs for most of my life but it was not until recently that my studies expanded to this medium. Below in a collection of my past and present work.

Recent Accomplishments

I have shown work in recent art exhibitions such as the ARTed Exhibition (2022) and the Juried Exhibition (2022) at UWRF as well as spaces around campus such as the library.

I have also been approved for an URSCA grant to support my project ‘Someday is Today’ which is a documentation of my upcoming study abroad experience.
