Autumn Wood
Autumn Wood is a multimedia artist from Somerset, Wisconsin. She is currently double majoring in Fine Art and Psychology. She hopes to be an Art Professor, Art Therapist, and a Studio Artist. Her favorite mediums are Prismacolor brand colored pencils, Micron ink pens, and oil paint. A majority of her work is inspired by what she loves, the nineteen-eighties, horror movies, heavy metal, and much more. When she’s not creating art, Autumn can be found moshing at a concert, hanging out with her beloved cats, lifting weights, antiquing/thrifting, and researching obscure hair metal bands.
Artists Statement:
I create my work to express myself and to visually portray thoughts and feelings. My artwork varies in subject but usually tends to be either extremely idealist and fantastical or very dark and uncomfortable, sometimes my work sits somewhere in between that spectrum. Often the subjects I chose to depict are living beings, usually human or animal. I strive to tell stories or fantasies I have built in my mind or to express an unexplainable feeling in visual form, my topics vary widely. Sometimes the concept of my work is just built on the fact that I just enjoy or like something, an example of this would be my inclusion of unicorns in my artwork. Currently, the work I am creating tends to be oil paintings, as I am attempting to master the medium after many years of avoiding it. I enjoy creating these paintings on masonite and wood panels. I specialize in working with colored pencils and ink pens. I have years of experience with these two mediums but I still am learning how to use them as well. My work is made out of pure self expression and the strong need to share with others. I would like my work to invoke strong feelings from the viewers, positive or negative.
